Another day, another great cafe in Melbourne.
Tall Timber is a gorgeous (and popular) brunch spot in the ugly commercial part of Prahran. But you forget that as you walk into a cool sea of white washed walls and ceiling, with an occasional splash of pale wood and grey. There’s a large terrace out the back too, with a similar vibe, and a herb garden in the middle of the long table. I salivate over some of the extensive menu – french toast with bruleed banana, candid hazelnuts, blueberries + cinnamon mascarpone + bacon anyone. It’s the extra touches to standard brunch items that hooks me in, like the porridge with vanilla chai, coconut, rhubarb, pistachio & maple. Or the eggs benedict with pulled pork and apple cider hollandaise. Foodie heaven.
I settle for the bircher muesli, replete with vanilla and cinnamon pear, pistachio crumble and rose syrup. It both looks and tastes divine. Washed down with a perfect long black, I’m set for the day.
