Bringing Eden Road Vineyard to the city
Eden Road Vineyard have taken over Grasshopper Bar in the CBD for the night, and it’s all for our benefit. I’ve been enjoying this winery for a few years now, they excel at cool climate wines and are based just south of the village of Murrumbateman. I’m enjoying sampling their latest, in fact enjoying it so much I forget to take any photos.
I do have some clear favourites. The chardonnays are right up my alley, a combination of fruitiness, acidity, and subtle oak. Try them all, the Long Road, the Courabyra, the Maragle, and the Tumbarumba. If you think you don’t like chardy, these may well change your mind. I really want to give them 3 -5 years in the bottle before I drink them.
Then there’s the cool climate Pinot Noir, and the very well respected Syrah. Amazingly, the first very first vintage of The Long Road syrah won the Jimmy Watson Memorial Trophy. There’s also a Canberra Syrah, and a Gundegai Syrah to choose from, and that’s just my favourites!
