The natural goodness of Fitzrovia
Fitzrovia is where I go to indulge and yet still claim the healthy benefits. It’s a cool cafe on Fitzroy street with an emphasis on local produce, free range and organic ingredients and minimal food miles. They name the sources of their non-homogenised milk, butter, beef, duck, lamb, chicken, coffee, salt, olives and oil. But this is no temple to kale eaters, this cafe has a menu of richly voluptuous dishes to enjoy.
It’s my last morning in Melbourne so I’m having the bircher muesli. In this case, the home made cranberry and almond bircher muesli with fresh strawberries, fresh pomegranate, sunflower seed brittle & vanilla yoghurt. Tastes as delicious as it looks. I could as easily have ordered the thick cut bacon with gruyere potato cake, or the grilled chorizo & tiger prawn omelette. This is a great brunch menu. And the coffee from St Ali is one of the best in Melbourne. I’m sad to leave!
