Back to the Boathouse

A fishy lunch at The Boathouse on Blackwattle Bay.

It’s about 10 years since we’ve been to the Boathouse, a seafood stalwart just across the bay from the seafood market. Time for a long Friday afternoon lunch I think. The room, with floorboards, floor to ceiling glass and views over the bay is a treat on a sunny day like today.

It’s good food month and we are here for the lunch special, which is a fancy bouillebaise with a glass of verdelho. Perfectly poached fish and seafood in a savoury sour soup, it’s every kind of wonderful! K wanted to try the fish instead, another delicious serve. And we tie it together with some yummy crunchy brussel sprouts.

Not wanting to go home yet, we order two desserts to share amongst four. Peanut ice cream lifts the subtle banana souffle to new heights. And the deconstructed strawberry cheesecake is a delicious mix of textures and flavours. All we need now is a coffee
