A Local Italian Favourite
After a hard day’s wine tasting, I think a good dinner is required for some rebalancing. So we book into A Tavola for a nice light Italian dinner for three. This is one of my local favourites, always great food and service.
The oysters in gin sorbet are a refreshing bite of protein to help our recovery on it’s way. Similarly the beet cured salmon is rich and so moreish. We enjoyed last night’s barossa montepulciano so much we order one here too, Italian this time, and it is a lovely smooth tasty mouthful. I’ve gone for the wild boar ragu, which is as tasty and comforting as expected, although the food on the fringes of my plate is bit cold, while the centre is nicely hot.
More concerning, one of my friends gets served a plate of pasta which is just cold all the way through. So he chooses not to eat it. Providing that feedback to the wait staff resulted in a “sorry shrug” and that’s all, as he didn’t want an alternative dish by that stage! I’m disappointed A Tavola were not up to their usual standards tonight.
Best bits: the oysters
Worst bits: the cold food
